Tersk Stud is the biggest stud for Purebred Arabians in Russia. Founded in 1889 by Count Stroganow, the world famous “Russian purebred Arabian breeding” was founded with horses from England, France and Poland in the 1930ies and 40ies. “Russian Arabians” were world-famous in the 1980ies and won all the major shows around the globe. Then, Tersk stud dropped into oblivion, until it was privatized in 2006. Today, it shines in new splendor and opens its doors again to foreign visitors.

  • In Tersk we will see representatives of the “Classic Russian” and HARC lines, as well as race horses with French and Amer blood, but also show horses with modern show horse lines.
  • In Stavropol Stud, world renown Akhal-Teke horses are bred. This old cultural breed is also interesting for Arabian horse enthusiasts, as it developed under similar circumstances as the Arabian breed.
  • Samovolov Stud is one of the oldest private studs in Russia and owns over 100 purebred Arabians and many English Thoroughbreds. The main acitivity is breeding Arabian race horses with or without French blood.
  • Karachay horses are a typical breed of the Northern Caucasus. They are mountain horses and are especially suitable for endurance and trail riding.
