This year’s General Meeting of CIAA (International Confederation of the Anglo-Arab) was held on 17-18 November at the German State Stud Marbach. The reason for this is the acceptance of the German Anglo-Arab Studbook, maintained by the VZAP, who was hosting the event.
\nIn order to be accepted, the studbook was checked by the CIAA. It was also decided that the breed would be called from now on uniformly “Anglo-Arabian” and the “AA” has to become an integral part of the horse’s name. The aim of this unification is that the Anglo-Arab should be recognized within the activities of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) and FEI as a uniform breed and will finally get the recognition which these horses deserve, as they ultimately have gained it by their sports successes.
\nTo make this dry subject somehow more pleasant, the participants were shown Marbach Stud and its facilities by Dr. Astrid von Velsen. In addition, the different breeds were presented in the large riding hall under the saddle and in hand in an appealing demonstration. There were representatives of the Anglo-Arab breed, an English thoroughbred, three Arabians from Marbach and two Shagya Arabian stallions, all belong to the “origin” of the Anglo-Arab breed.<\/p>\n
