The first Arabian Horse Show after the War in Syria

On 5th to 6th October, the first Arabian horse show after the war will take place in Damascus; the last show was held in 2010.
As in the years before, one day is dedicated to the horses of original-syrian bloodlines, the other day for modern imports. It seems to be remarkable, that despite the war, between 89 (in 2012) and 800 (in 2016) Arabian horses, mostly foals, were registered in the Studbook (WAHO figures). These figures clearly demonstrate, that Syrian people are deeply attached – historically, culturally and emotionally – to their horses, apart from the fact that breeding Arabian horses and other activities are supported by the government and the public.
