HARC racing has grown quickly in Western Europe over the past year, (for example in Belgium, Netherlands and Germany are 1 to 7 ‘Heritage Horses’ in training, and participation from England in our prep-races), we are now aiming for a European Heritage Championship this year.
The generosity of HARC, under the guidance of HH Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, allows us to allot the interesting prize-money of 20.000 Euro ( 10.000 – 5.000 – 2.500 – 1.500 – 1000) and travel-incentives of 300 Euro for all horses travelling over 300km (300km either direction) or who are confronted with the costs of a ferry (e.g. England).
The race is planned for Monday 31st of October, the day following the European Championships for Show, also to be held in Belgium (Lier), allowing owners from the Eastern part of Europe (Poland / Russia) to combine transport of their contenders to both events.
If there is a minimum of three nations (or groups of Nations like Scandinavia or BE, NL, DE) with at least 3 starters each, we can do on top of the individual ranking a symbolic “Nations-Cup” by adding the place of their three best horses.
The race will take place in Ghlin/Belgium, which has easy access by highway from the north via Brussels , from the East via Liège, from the South via Paris or Luxemburg, and from England via the ferry (Calais) or Hull – (Holland).
The Hippodrome de Wallonie (Mons) has an all-year round surface (sand + fiber) which has been improved this past summer and offers essentially 1500 m and 2100 m for our consideration. The maximum number of starting stalls is for 14 horses. There are concrete boxes where you can (upon request) stable your horse in advance and the night after. Amateur jockeys are allowed to ride in this race, in as far as they have 5 registered victories ( TB or Arab racing). Apprentices are allowed to ride, but do not receive allowances.
