The currently most famous mare in El Zahraa, Tee
(Adl / Bint Ibtisam) is dead, she died at the age of 25. The
“Queen of El Zahraa” was considered the personified beauty of an
Arabian mare and also left nothing to be desired in terms of her pedigree.
During my visit to the
Egyptian State Stud El Zahraa last November, I was able to pay her a visit.
She had her own box next to the mare’s loosestable to give her
more rest. She showed clear signs of age, but her beauty
and charisma were still impressive.
In breeding, she
immortalized herself with her son Tagweed (by Gad Allah) *2004, who
unfortunately died in 2018 at the age of only 14. His
full sister Toya El Zahraa * 2003 was sold to Al Rayyan Stud in Qatar and Bashashah (by Rashdan) * 1999, which
was sold to Bait Al Arab in Kuwait.
Tee’s daughters Tayees (by El Ragel) * 2011 and Nefertiti El
Zahraa (by Gad Allah) remain as broodmares in the stud.
