The hammer fell at 1.55 Mio Dollars

Om El Erodite-300pxAt a record price of 1.55 Mio dollars, the eight months old Om El Erodite (EKS Alijandro / Om El Excella) was sold at the “Marquise Invitational Auction” at Scottsdale. The proud new owner is Pat Dempsey, Beloveds Farm, Florida/US.
The filly was – as the name indicates – bred by Om El Arab International, Sigi & Janina Merz. She has no less than five World Champions in her pedigree – her sire EKS Alihandro, grandsire Marwan Al Shaqab and great grandsire Gazal Al Shaqab, as well as on her dam’s side the “German” Al Lahab of the Friedman family, who was leased by Om El Arab a number of years ago, and Carmargue. In her damline, Om El Erodite tails back to Estopa, who delivered several European Champions, and represents the Om El Arab breeding program in fourth generation.
With the record price of 1.55 Mio dollars (=1.46 Mio Euro), Om El Erodite even exceeded the record price of the last years of 1.4 Mio Euro, achieved by Pepita at the 2015 auction at Janow Podlaski. It is regarded as a positive sign that Om El Erodite remains in the US, and we are all excited to see her future carreer.
All in all, eleven mares were offered, from yearling to a 14-year-old mare, as well as an unborn foal and additionally, there was the option to bit on three embryos, whose dams are all US National Champion mares.
