The oldest Arabian horse at Michałów turned 32 on 7th March: Eldon (Penitent / Erotyka).
Born in 1985, Eldon became European Champion (1991) and Polish National Champion (1992) just like his sire Penitent several years before. And he raced – just like his sire – and achieved in 10 starts 3 wins (3; 4; 1; 1). He then started his breeding career in Michalow but also served mares at all the other Polish State Studs. In 1993-1994, he left for Silverdale Arabian Stud/UK and was named British National Reserve Champion Stallion while on lease.
Of his sons, Espadero (out of Esparceta) is worth mentioning, as he was a Derby winner with 20 starts during two seasons (6; 6; 2; 3; 1). He was standing at Janów Podlaski in 2002-2006 before he was sold to Australia in 2006. Also Eliat and Sabir were Derby winners, while Fiszka was an Oaks winner. But for sure, it is Piaff (out of Pipi), who is the most famous of Eldon’s offspring: He, as well, raced for two seasons and 20 starts (2; 4; 2; 3), but on top, he also has a great show record of twice Polish National Champion, as junior and senior, further Dutch National Champion, Top Ten US National Champion and Scottsdale Reserve Champion Stallion Sport Horse In-Hand, while on lease to Aria Arabians/USA. He was also a regular participant at the Sport Championships in Janow Podlaski.
Eldon left a legacy of valuable broodmares with an impressive show record, national and international.
Eldon received the 2013 WAHO Trophy when he was 28 years of age in honour of his achievements and it was clear that he enjoyed to show his joy of life at the hand of breeding manager Magdalena Helak-Kulczynska.
