Bedouin Traditions and their Relevance Today At the WAHO Conference 2014 in Doha, Qatar, Cynthia Culbertson spoke about Bedouin traditions in horse breeding. She looked at the earliest literary references of the Arabs and explored the strong beliefs of care and welfare for the horse as illustrated by pre-Islamic poetry. The author further discussed the Bedouin tradition of never hitting horses, but only using words or gestures to train them, and finally brought this in context with today’s training methods in the show ring. Enough is enough What looked at first to be „just an accumulation of doping cases “, has developed into the biggest scandal in endurance riding, including mid-ride horse-swaps, bogus races for qualification, increasing number of doping cases and numerous dead horses on the track.
