Arabians at the “Great Week” of Baden-Baden

On September 1, the 7th race of the UAE President’s Cup series for Arabian horses took place on the main day of the “Grosse Woche” (Great Week) on the race track in Baden-Baden-Iffezheim. In front of a large audience, the list race with 7 starters over a distance of 1,600 m and a prize money of 40,000 euros was run. Mashhur al Khalediah (Jalnar al Khalidiah (KSA) / Amerah al Khalediah (KSA)) bred by Athbah Stud / GB & KSA, won in 1: 51.49 minutes. The 5-year-old grey stallion is trained by Philip Collington and was ridden in his almost start-finish victory by Jean-Bernard Eyquem. Mashhur has both, Tiwaiq and Amer, in the pedigree, in his maternal line he goes back to the Polish exceptional mare Savvannah and thus back to the Sabellina-line.
Second with half a length, was the 7-year-old grey stallion Tayf (Amer (KSA) / Djelmila (FR)), owned by Sheik Abdullah bin Khalifa al Thani. By a nose-length, the 4-year-old bay stallion Bel’Izam (Nizam (GB) / Djesabelle (FR)) crossed the finish line in third. Both horses go back to the French mare Cherifa bred to Manganate or a Manganate son; Cherifa is also the dam of the exceptional stallion Djebbel.

The “President of the UAE Cup Series” was created by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan with the aim of promoting the purebred Arabian. The series was sponsored in 2019 with 1.1 million euros and is run in 12 countries.
